Conductor
As conductor of Monmouth Choral Society (since 2014) and Thornbury Choral Society (since 2005), I have performed a great many works from the standard choral repertoire as well as some more unusual music including world premieres, and a number of orchestral works within our concert programmes.
As Assistant Music Director of Bristol Choral Society and (from 2001 to 2014) Assistant Director of the BBC National Chorus of Wales I have helped to prepare, and occasionally direct, many performances and recordings and worked with a number of leading national and international conductors, soloists and players.
In previous years I conducted New Bristol Voices (2011-14), the Bristol University Singers (2008-9), and the Cotswold Chorus (1999-2004). I have been active as a leader of many successful choral workshops in Bristol, the Cotswolds, and the South West.
Reviews
"Everything came together so well on just one afternoon rehearsal on the day of the concert. Much of the credit for this must go to Steven Kings whose fussless and dynamic direction inspired confidence in the performers allowing them to give of their very best."

"The balance between the choir, soloists and orchestra, was thus sustained under the guidance and impressive creative skill of Steven Kings, the musical director..... Steven Kings delivered a brilliant interpretation of [Boyce's Symphony no.5]; the movements being bright and exhilarating, full of energy and sparkle."
